Discover the history of the Norwegian Explorers during this scenic, half-day sightseeing excursion through Oslo. Oslo has a long seafaring tradition, which is reflected in the museums visited of the city.
Board your motorcoach for a short drive to the Viking Planet, one of the newest tourist attraction in Oslo, situated in the city centre by the city hall.
The Viking Planet
The Viking Planet resurrects the Viking times with virtual reality technology, holograms, interactive screens and 270-degrees films. At this digital museum, you can learn about and experience how the Vikings lived, join them on their expeditions, feel the power of the elements onboard a Viking ship in a storm, and take a picture of yourself in Viking armor. The center has been equipped with the latest in technology and has hired production companies with long experience in storytelling, VR and special effects. Here you can use all you senses to learn about the Vikings religion, mythology, ships and cultural heritage.
You will then drive to the Bygdøy Peninsula a residential district in Oslo, that boast a number of museums all dedicated to the country's maritime history.
The countryside scenery makes it a lovely and charming area to stroll.
Fram Museum
Visit the Fram Museum to see the world's most famous polarship, the Fram. Built in 1892, the Fram is the museum's main attraction. The explorer Roald Amundsen was the first to reach the South Pole using the Fram during his expedition of 1910-11. The ship is displayed in its original condition, with interior and objects perfectly preserved. Every visitor is welcome on board the Fram.
Kon-Tiki Museum
Continue to the nearby Kon-Tiki Museum, home to vessels and artefacts from Thor Heyerdahl's expeditions. Here, see the original Kon-Tiki raft from 1947, a 30-foot whale shark and artefacts from Easter Island, together with the papyrus boat RA II and a fascinating archaeological collection from Peru, Polynesia and Easter Island.
Afterwards, the coach returns you to the ship.
