Fishguard, Natural Landscape, St. David's City

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to St. David's City. En route, pass through the beautiful natural landscape for which Wales is so renowned. Upon arrival at St. David's, take a guided walking tour of the Cathedral and its grounds, which lie at the heart of the city.

St. David's Cathedral

Built hidden in a depression below the town square in the hope that Norse invaders would pass without noticing it, the 12th-century St. David's Cathedral is magnificent and steeped in antiquity. The floor slopes approximately three feet (about 0.9 metres) upwards and the pillars lean drunkenly (though not precariously) as the result of the Earthquake of 1248. This cathedral is the only one in the United Kingdom in which the reigning monarch has a permanently reserved pew.

St. David's City Walking Tour, Bishop's Palace Ruins

Leaving St. David's Cathedral, take a guided walking tour of this delightful city. Along the way, an exterior photo stop is made at the extensive ruins of the 12th century Bishop's Palace. Following your tour, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive through the scenic Welsh landscape en route to the pier.
