Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502, this afternoon we will call into the town of Portobelo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was once the greatest Spanish port in Central America. Gold from Peru and treasures from the Orient entered Panama City and were carried overland by mule to the fortresses at Portobelo.

Your tour will give you an insight into the history of the area once known as the Paradise for Pirates. Visit Fort San Geronimo, Fort San Felipe, Customs House, two story colonial structure built in 1630, it was the headquarters of the Spanish customs offices and the Black Christ Church (the patron Saint of Portobelo)
