Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive up into the lush rainforest and through the diverse, pristine island of Dominica. Along the way, marvel at the spectacular mountain scenery, lush greenery, and local farms. Your first stop is at the beautiful Morne Trois Piton National Park. Upon arrival, proceed for a short, guided walking tour through the rainforest along manicured paths to the waterfall site and world-renowned Emerald Pool.

Upon arrival at the Emerald Pool, marvel at how ferns from the rainforest give the cascading waterfall the emerald hue from which it is named. Next, re-board your coach and head for an orientation tour of a Carib Indian farming community and village, Salybia. Learn about the Carib history and people, along with their traditional lifestyle. Visit an historical church with an altar made of a Carib canoe and primitive murals on the walls. Enjoy a singing performance by a school choir, and browse hand-made Carib baskets in distinctive styles and patterns that were produced utilising traditional, centuries-old methods.

Next, take a stroll through Kalinago Barana Aute, a model of an ancient Carib Indian village. Stop by the Carbert for a refreshment and traditional folkloric singing and dancing by the Karifuna Cultural Group, who are clad in traditional garb. Afterward, head for a brief photo stop is made at Horseback Ridge for spectacular panoramic views of Morne Trois Pitons and the southern part of the approximately 4,747-foot-high (about 1,447-metre-high) Morne Diablotin, Dominica’s tallest mountain. Your tour concludes with approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.
