Šibenik, Adriatic Coast and Sea, Primošten Town, Photo Stop
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive along the panoramic Adriatic Coast en route to Primošten, a Croatian town situated on the Adriatic coast in southern Šibenik. Nestled on a little island linked by a bridge to the land, panoramic Primošten features stone houses and narrow, Mediterranean-style lanes, with many bays, islets and peninsulas. It is built on a hill, dominated by the parish Church of St. George. During a period of Turkish invasions, this islet was protected by defence walls with towers and a movable bridge, built in 1542. After the Turks had retreated from Dalmatia, the bridge was replaced by an embankment and Primošten became a peninsula. A photo stop is made at the viewpoint above Primošten for breath-taking views over the town, coast and sea.
Šibenik Hinterland, Burni Village, Local Home Visit, Cultural Exchange, Lunch Served al Fresco
Next, re-board your coach and drive inland, through the Šibenik hinterland, then on to the small picturesque village of Burni. En route, pass by splendid landscapes and marvel at the ingenuity of the locals, who have transformed this rocky terrain into an oasis of fertile, hospitable living. See the local village homes, some of which are several hundred years old. A visit is made to one of the homes for an opportunity to meet a local family, learn about the Dalmatian culture and traditions, and enjoy a delicious lunch, which is served al fresco in the shade of surrounding trees and accompanied by music.
Sibenski Bridge, Photo Stop
After lunch, re-board your coach and head to the Sibenski Bridge, a beautiful viewpoint. Upon arrival, take in spectacular vistas overlooking the exquisite Adriatic Sea. At the conclusion of your photo stop, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
