Jerez de la Frontera, Tabanco el Pasaje

Commence the 30-minute drive heading to Jerez de la Frontera where Tabanco El Pasaje is located.

The term 'tabanco', which dates to the 17th century, is derived from the union of two words 'estancos' (state-controlled sales) and 'tabaco' (a novelty at the time). A Tabanco embodies a unique fusion of tradition and commerce combining the social atmosphere of a tavern with the commercial purpose of a local wine shop.

El Pasaje is a renowned establishment known for its traditional flamenco performances and delicious tapas.

It will be exclusively reserved for Silversea Guests and maybe few locals, providing and intimate and personalized setting.

Upon arrival at El Pasaje you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this authentic tabanco, where you can enjoy the rich sounds of flamenco music and witness mesmerizing performances by talented dancers.

Flamenco Performance, Tapas

While indulging in the vibrant flamenco show, you will also be treated to a delectable selection of delicious food and drinks. Manzanilla wine, cream wine, jabugo ham, cured pork loin, sirloin tuna fillet, anchovies are some of the delicatessens you will enjoy. Food will be served, like it is done for the locals, on sheets of food paper to be shared among the guests; everyone will have to serve themselves by hand, as this is part of the Tabanco style, reflecting the traditional Spanish spirit of tapas, where sharing small food portions encourages conviviality and fostering a spirit of communal dining and creating cherished memories together.

Throughout the afternoon/evening, your guide will provide insightful commentary, sharing the history and cultural significance of flamenco as well as interesting anecdotes about the establishment and the surrounding area.

Before you go, you will have the chance to leave your signature in a cask and to take a bottle of Sherry Wine home with you, poured directly from one of the cask and sealed at the moment for you.

After the flamenco show and tapas feast, you will take the coach to go back to the port.

Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of activity including walking of approximately 0.43 miles (700 metres) over paved and cobblestoned surfaces and few steps. It isn't therefore suitable for guests with limited mobility, those who utilise a wheelchair and guests who suffer from Claustrophobia. We recommend guests wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. It is an old Tabanco that retains its original internal structure. No renovations are allowed to preserve the historical heritage of this place, therefore, the Tabanco is equipped with only a small, mixed-use bathroom for both males and females. As described, tapas are served on paper specific for food, this is the way locas do, however, guests can ask plates and cutlery. If requested to the shore concierge desk at least 48 hours before the call, Vegetarian and Vegan requests can be accomodated and will include a reduced number of tapas available.
