Explore Dakar, the vibrant capital of Senegal and a former center of culture and intellectual life in French West Africa. Begin your journey at the remarkable Musée des Civilisations Noires, opened in 2018 and inspired by the vision of Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegal’s first president and renowned poet. The museum celebrates the history, creativity, and cultural legacy of Black civilizations around the world. Continue to some of Dakar’s most iconic landmarks, including panoramic views of the Presidential Palace, the impressive Mosquée Massalikul Jinaan, and the towering African Renaissance Monument, offering spectacular views over Dakar and the Atlantic Ocean.

After exploring the city, travel to the Bandia Wildlife Reserve and enjoy a traditional local lunch within the reserve. Spanning 3,500 hectares of protected savannah, Bandia is home to a rich variety of African wildlife, including giraffes, rhinos, antelopes, gazelles, buffalo, monkeys, and numerous bird species. Following lunch, embark on a guided safari drive through the reserve, where you will have the opportunity to observe these remarkable animals in their natural habitat and experience Senegal’s unique biodiversity firsthand.

This excursion combines Dakar’s rich cultural heritage with an unforgettable African wildlife experience before concluding at Dakar International Airport (DSS), with an anticipated arrival time of around 17:00. Therefore, this excursion is only appropriate for guests with onward flights scheduled to depart after 19:00.

Senegal is a low-income country with basic infrastructure, and vastly different to the western culture mentality. Local conditions may be challenging; therefore, we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique and somewhat remote destinations. Coaches, guides, equipment, and services are the best available in the area but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions. This excursion involves a moderate amount of walking at times over uneven, bumpy and unpaved surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at various sides visited. For photography, please listen carefully to your guide’s instructions and respect local customs and regulations during your visit. Lunch is included at a local restaurant and features a pre-selected menu accompanied by non-alcoholic beverages. Alternative meal arrangements may be limited, and guests with dietary restrictions should advise the Expedition Team in advance. Order of sites visited may vary from description. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection is recommended. Guests are informed that tips to local guides and drivers are at the guest’s discretion.
