Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Pula. Located on the southernmost part of the Istrian Peninsula. According to myth, Jason and Medea founded the town, 'Polai' (Source of Life). Later, the Romans changed it into a divine town for the 'pleasure of the rich'. Today, this town is known as Pula, Croatia.

Amphitheatre

Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of this ancient town. Pula is best-known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is its 1st-century Amphitheatre. Known locally as the 'Arena', it is the sixth-largest amphitheatre in the world. One of the best-preserved amphitheatres from antiquity, the 'Arena' is still in use today for summer film festivals.

Sergius Arch, Temple to the God Apollo, Roman City Gates & Walls, Byzantine Chapel

During your walking tour you will see well-preserved ancient Roman structures, including the Sergius Arch and temple of augustus, built in honour of the 1st-century Roman emperor Caesar Augustus. Other sites to be seen include the Roman city gates and walls, and a Byzantine chapel. Following your walking tour, some free time is made available for independent exploration. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 45-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 1.24 miles (about two kilometres), at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and approximately 40 steps at the sites visited. Walking in Pula is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and bottled water from the ship. Guests must be at least eight years old to participate on this tour. The order of sites viewed or visited may vary.
