Excursion Traditional apulian cooking class at ancient masseria tour at Gallipoli

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Begin your journey with a 40-minute scenic drive from Gallipoli pier through the serene Apulian countryside, lined with centuries-old olive trees, until you reach the ancient Masseria "Le Stanzie" in Supersano. Steeped in history and tradition, this beautifully preserved farmhouse reveals its secrets as you explore underground oil mills, medieval tombs, ancient granary pits, and even a mysterious cave whose original purpose is still unknown.

Upon arrival, a welcoming family member greets you and leads you through the Masseria’s atmospheric rooms. As you walk, you are enveloped in the charming light, scents, and warmth of a place where every stone tells a story. The guided visit ends at the trappeto (oil mill), where the scent of freshly baked wood-oven bread invites you to indulge in a delicious tasting of local olive oil and bread, an introduction to the flavors of this land.

After, dive into a 3-hour hands-on cooking experience. Under the guidance of the farmhouse chef, you learn the art of crafting Apulia’s beloved handmade pasta. Get your hands in the dough and enjoy the process as much as the tasting, paired with local wines and other traditional products.

Finally, enjoy a relaxing 35-minute drive back to Gallipoli pier, filled with flavors, stories, and the unforgettable charm of rural Puglia.
