A magical evening awaits at the legendary Edinburgh Tattoo - a celebration of colorful military pageantry on the floodlit esplanade of famous Edinburgh Castle.

'Tattoo' was the traditional curfew signal, by drum or trumpet, which ordered soldiers to return to their quarters at night. The name is derived from the 18th-century Low Country innkeepers' cry 'doe den tap toe' or 'turn off the taps.' Today it has developed into this spectacular ceremonial performance featuring around 800 men and women.

After an early dinner onboard, leave the port for the approximate 30-minute coach drive into Edinburgh, depending on traffic conditions. During the drive, your knowledgeable guide will provide you with an insight into this great traditional event. On arrival in the city, the coach will drop you off at an appropriate place from where it is about a 15-minute uphill walk through part of the medieval old town to the castle esplanade. You will be seated in the Premier Grandstand where you can enjoy the glorious performance. Set against the majestic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the world-renowned Massed Pipes and Drums together with the impressive Massed Military Bands and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland are among those who will gather for Scotland's sensational Edinburgh Tattoo.

The Tattoo ends with that most moving of all Scotland's performances: the lone piper, floodlit on the battlements, his haunting music reaching out across the darkened arena to echo in your heart forever.  The setting of the Castle Esplanade, the ramparts and the delicate play of light will leave you with lasting memories of your Scottish evening.

At the end of this astonishing performance, rejoin your guide who will lead you to your motor coach for the return journey to the ship.
