This Land Adventure is a small group luxury tour, providing bespoke cultural and sightseeing experiences. We limit the tour to a small group in order to ensure your experience is a high-quality one. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. If the program fills up, you'll be accommodated on a space-available basis. Advanced booking is required at least 90 days prior to sailing date via Silversea Reservations. We suggest booking early to secure your spot(s).
Please be advised that a minimum number of participants is required for this program to run as described. In rare cases when the minimum number of participants is not met, Silversea reserves the right to offer the program at an increased rate based on private arrangements or to cancel your specific departure for a refund. The self-cancellation fee, unless otherwise advised, is 90 days or sooner to initial sailing date at the rate of 100% program fare per person. The payment for your Land Adventure is due in full on the same date as your final payment due for your cruise. Per Silversea's general payment terms, bookings made within 120 days of sailing require full payment within seven days of booking or sooner.
All Land Adventures are non-transferable and non-refundable within 120 days of sailing, with the exception of cancellation by Silversea. Our family-friendly land programs require adult accompaniment of any guests under the age of 18. All Land Adventures are owned by independent contractors, and Silversea makes no representations and assumes no responsibility for the services provided by these operators. Silversea and our local operators make every effort to ensure your land program runs as described. Our local operators reserve the right to modify tour sequence, sites visited and venues mentioned due to operational reasons.
VISA INFORMATION:
Please check with your travel professional for details regarding visa requirements for Kenya and Tanzania (Entry Visa -applied online- Fees currently US$ 50.00 per person for Kenya and US$100 per person for Tanzania). It is the responsibility of each guest to obtain all appropriate visas before cruising. Please make sure your passport is valid for 6 months.
VACCINATION:
Please check with your doctor for details regarding vaccination requirements for Kenya and Tanzania. Yellow fever certificate is mandatory for travel to Tanzania. It is also recommended to take malaria precautions as East Africa is a high risk malaria area.
LOCAL CURRENCY:
The local currency is the Kenyan Shilling in Kenya and the Tanzanian Shilling in Tanzania however USD and EUR are also accepted; local ATMs are available in some locations visited. (There is no shopping stop planned during the program.)
The Masai Mara is the jewel in Kenya's wildlife crown. The reserve features wide open grassland, gently rolling hills and is bisected by numerous rivers. The diversity, and density, of the wildlife is second to none. The Masai Mara got its name from the Masai people who call this stunning corner of Kenya home. Whilst here you will encounter a vast array of wildlife the likes of which you will not see elsewhere.
DAY ONE - Wednesday, March 9th, 2022 - Zanzibar/Nairobi Airport (Customs Formalities)/ Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning disembark from the ship to travel to the airport. Fly via Nairobi's Wilson Airport for immigrations and customs and then proceed to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, renowned as one of the Wonders of the Natural World.

After your game drive en route to the camp, you will arrive at your luxury tented camp, have time to freshen up, and then sit back and enjoy a mouth-watering lunch. You will be able to choose from continental cuisine, as well as sampling a colourful display of fresh Kenyan salads and fruits. After a well-deserved siesta, it's time to go out on a full game drive. Dinner and overninght at the Neptune Mara Rianta Camp.
DAY TWO - Thursday, March 10th, 2022 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning you have the opportunity to go hot air ballooning - an unforgettable experience! (Optional - and at an additional cost - bookable with your Silversea Reservation Agent or with the on board Shore Concierge Team)
The Mara is magical in the morning; the birds are singing, the morning air smells fresh and cool, and the wildlife is just waking up to greet the day. Sightings tend to be more prolific in the morning, whilst the day is still cool and crisp. The balloon takes off as the sun comes up and you float gracefully over the Mara plains seeing the game from a totally different vantage point, sometimes hundreds of feet off the ground then only 20 feet, skimming the treetops. After approximately a one-hour flight, you will land and be treated to a champagne breakfast, where your eggs are actually cooked using the burners from the balloon.
If you don't feel like the balloon flight, you will still go out on a game drive and link up with the others after breakfast. Rest of the morning at leisure for optional activities. You may wish to join one of the optional activities available at the lodge. These include the Maasai village visit.
This afternoon your safari driver/guide will direct the game drive in a different direction out onto the plains, to see if you can catch sight of a cheetah mother hunting for her cubs, or maybe the endangered and therefore very rare rhino. Your safari driver/guide will also point out that the late afternoon is a good time to potentially sight that all elusive leopard high up in a tree or possibly sunning itself on a rocky out crop.
Bush dinner (weather permitting) then return to the Neptune Mara Rianta Camp for overnight.
DAY THREE - Friday, March 11th, 2022 - Masai Mara Game Reserve/Nairobi Airport (Customs Formalities)/Zanzibar
This morning enjoy an early breakfast before setting out for a morning game drive. Return to the camp for check out. NB: Check-out is 1000hrs
Thereafter depart with picnic lunches for the airstrip for your charter flight to Zanzibar via Nairobi's Wilson Airport for immigrations and customs.
Proceed to Zanzibar and then back to the pier.
Please note: The contents and activities of this programme are subject to change due to flight schedules and at the discretion of the Neptune Mara Rianta Camp management. This Mid-Voyage Land Adventure involves an extensive amount of off-road driving and an extensive amount of walking, at times over uneven, bumpy, slippery, cobblestone, and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and open-air, 4WD safari vehicles. This tour is recommended for active guests in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with neck and/or back problems, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. As during the day it can be very hot, guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with long-and-short-sleeved shirts and flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and insect repellent. A light jacket is also recommended for early-morning game-drives. Guests must be at least 16 years old to participate on this tour; minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Guests must carry their passports and ship's ID at all times. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Guests are not permitted to use cellular phones during the game drives. Guests are not permitted to speak loudly, or stand up on the game drive vehicles, as this disturbs the animals. Smoking is not permitted during the game drives. This is a malaria-risk area; please make sure the necessary medication has been taken. Guests must carry their passports. The open-air, 4WD safari vehicles utilised on this tour are not covered, and guests are therefore exposed to the elements. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, animal sightings are not guaranteed. Due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife on the Game Reserve, the tour sequence, timings, and itinerary are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Space on this tour is extremely limited but a minimum number of participants is required to operate; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
One soft sided bag of 20kg is allowed.
Guests are required to complete cross-border immigration formalities at Nairobi Airport prior to proceeding the flight to the Camp. Silversea is not responsible for any unforeseen delays that may be experienced at the airports of Zanzibar and Nairobi.
A negative PCR test 72 hours valid is required to enter the National Park. The test will be arranged in Maputo.
An antigen test will be performed upon your arrival on board the ship.
