Excursion Manglares churute & cacao farm tour at Guayaquil

Enjoy a full day (eight hour) of adventure by canoe and on foot in the 86,589-acre Manglares Churute Ecological Reserve, named for the trees (manglares means mangroves) and the surrounding small mountain range called Churute, made up of seven hills. See the protected flora and fauna, then visit a local cacao and mango farm for a lunch of locally grown foods.


Embark from the port at Guayaquil for a 90-minute scenic drive to Manglares Churute. Admire the sugar cane, cocoa, mango and banana farms, large and small, as you travel down the highway. Arrive at the interpretation center of Maglares Churute where a car awaits you. Hop in for the 15-minute drive that takes you to the first walking trail.


Enter the pristine mangrove forest for a 35-minute hike. At the pier board your canoe and ride through the canals and mangroves for approximately two hours. See the variety of bird life and the local fishermen and crab catchers in their daily activities.


Hike back through the forest to the trailhead to meet your car. Make your way to the Cacao and Mango Farm, a local producer of native fruits and vegetables. Experience the activities of farming in Ecuador on this thirty-acre finca (farm). Enjoy a late lunch served at the farm and prepared with fresh products grown here. Then follow the meal with a chocolate tasting, made with local cacao.


Board your coach for the drive back to the Guayaquil pier.
