Excursion Flowers of guayaquil tour at Guayaquil
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
On this excursion meant for those nature lovers, experience the wonderful world of flowers at the Magic Flowers Farm and then be astounded by the Ecuagenera Orchid Show Room. In addition to enjoying these vibrant species and colorful bouquets, this tour is a chance to learn about the local exotic flower business in the region.
Travel one hour from the pier to arrive at the Rainforest Alliance Certified Magic Flower hacienda, where over 1,200 different species of indigenous Ecuadorian ferns and other Amazonian exotic plant species are grown for export to the USA and Europe.
Take a short drive around the property to see the natural habitat of these plants, followed by a walk through the nursery to see cacao and coffee plants. Go on a guided tour through the plant packing building - a very interesting part of the tour, to learn about all the care taken in the production, handling and packaging process.
All the strict standards that are required for sustainable agriculture are explained to receive accreditation to global industry bodies like the Rain Forest Alliance and Eurep Gap.
Continue with a 15-minute drive to the Ecuagenera Orchid Show Room to learn more about orchids. With over 4,000 different species grown at the farm there is a literally a kaleidoscope of beautiful colors. Ecuagenera also creates new species of orchids through genetic engineering of the plant, a labor of love - it takes a minimum of five years before any indication of the new species is possible.
Finally, we return to the pier.
