Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to Venice. Upon arrival, proceed to the Venice Canals. Once an exotic feature of developer Abbot Kinney's 'Venice of America', the Venice Canals were furrowed into coastal marshlands to bring a taste of Italy's famous waterfront city to Southern California. Today, what survives of that dream has two distinct personalities, both of which you can experience on this fascinating walk through history.

Your tour begins with an approximately one-hour stroll along the remaining canals, a peaceful interlude in a beautifully landscaped area that has become an architectural smorgasbord of upscale residential styles. Walk along the canal's sedate banks, discover the finely crafted homes and lovely gardens of canal residents, and cross picturesque white footbridges. In addition, marvel at the local animal and bird population, which includes cats, ducks, egrets, pelicans, etc., and is just as diverse as the architecture.

Venice Beach, Free Time, Shopping, Strolling, Relaxing

Just a few blocks away, switch gears and enjoy the hustle and bustle of Venice Beach, with its skateboarders, jugglers, sidewalk artists, and remnants of the original colonnaded buildings. Upon arrival, enjoy approximately one hour of free time for shopping, strolling, and/or relaxing at the popular beach. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Walking at Venice Beach is at the discretion of each guest. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, bottled water, and US Dollars or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least two years old to participate on this tour. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. The tour sequence may vary.
