Grundarfjörður Town
The town of Grundarfjörður is one of the oldest settlements in Iceland. During the Age of Settlement, it was an important trading post. Remains of a variety of time periods have been discovered there during archaeological excavations. Its importance grew over the centuries and the town became of the first six official trading centres in the 15th century.
Kirkjufell Mountain & Fjord Viewpoint
During this enjoyable walk, you will stroll from the pier up a hill to a viewing point overlooking the town and its fjord. Weather permitting you will get excellent views from the hillside. From there continue your walk past the local horse stables towards the magnificent Kirkjufell Mountain which is considered by many to be one of the most breathtaking mountains in the world.
Kirkjufell Waterfalls
Reach Kirkjufell waterfalls, providing an excellent foreground for Kirkjufell mountain. Here you will get the opportunity to take unique photos before returning to the pier.

Please note: This tour is entirely conducted on foot, covering approximately 6 kilometres at times over uneven ground including uphill walking. Although the pace is leisurely, the tour is not recommended to mobility challenged guests.
Warm, layered clothing appropriate to the local weather (including wind/weatherproof outerwear) and sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
