The Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve is located beyond the 50th parallel, along the North Shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Enjoy a walk on your own in the beautiful walking trail that will lead you to the lighthouse station. Discover the flora of the island and the lighthouse which has helped prevent shipwrecks since 1915. The life of the lighthouse keepers will be revealed as well as the secrets of the shoreline.
On your way to the station, stop at the lookout and enjoy the panoramic view offered by the sea-shaped limestone cliffs of Grosse île au Marteau that were formed ages ago. Walk along by the barrens where you will find arctic-alpine plant life. Learn how these plants are exceptionally adapted to harsh conditions and why they are uncommon this far south.
