Excursion Niah cave adventure tour at Bintulu

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Explore the evolution of East Malaysia in a unique new way during this picturesque, full-day excursion to Niah National Park and its renowned caves.

Niah National Park and Caves

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately two-hour drive to the Niah National Park Headquarters. After a comfort stop, embark a boat, cross the river and commence your rainforest walk along the undulating plank-walk trail leading to the Niah Caves.

Traders' Cave and Great Cave

Just before the entrance to the Great Cave, walk through the Traders' Cave where birds nest and guano traders conducted their business in days gone by. Next, proceed for a guided tour inside the Great Cave. Leaving the caves, return to the river crossing on-foot. Time permitting, a stop is made at the Exhibit Centre before embarking the boat and crossing the river.

Longhouse

At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately two-hour drive back to the pier, with an exterior photo stop of a Longhouse en route.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 4.3 miles (about seven kilometres), at times over inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the boat, and up to 500 steep, slippery steps at the park and caves in total. Inside the cave visibility is sometimes low but torches will be provided. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, a raincoat and insect repellent from the ship. Due to the amount of vehicles available all seats may be utilised. Boxed lunch will be provided from the ship
