Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Relax and unwind with an unforgettable round of golf amidst an exquisite natural setting during this panoramic, half-day golfing excursion to Muskeg Meadows.
Wrangell, Rainforest, Muskeg Meadows, Pacific Ocean, Snow-Capped Mountains, Wildlife
Depart the pier for the short drive to Muskeg Meadows, a truly unique golfing experience amidst the Alaskan rainforest and the first nine-hole regulation golf course in southeast Alaska. Sitting atop a foundation of by-products from the once-flourishing Wrangell timber industry, this approximately 32-acre (about 13-hectare) course boasts a 30-tournament schedule. It is also USGA-rated Moderate/Difficult due to its nine beautiful yet challenging, narrow fairways rising out of the wetlands with long greens, clear-water streams, and dense woods lining either side. Rounding out this mesmerising setting are stunning vistas of the Pacific Ocean, snow-capped mountains, lush rainforest, wildflowers, and grazing wildlife such as bear, deer, and moose.
Ducks, Geese, Migratory Birds, Ravens, Clubhouse, Pro Shop, Driving Range, Pre-Game Warm-Up
Muskeg Meadows is also home to ducks, geese, migratory birds, and ravens, who have been known to steal balls as they rest gently on the greens. Not to worry, however. If you have a witness, you are awarded a free drop according to ‘Raven Rule’. No special shoes or clothes are required at this PGA-rated course, just a love for the game, and a chance to relax and golf in Alaska. Afterward, walk over to the Pro Shop to select your clubs and golf balls, then head for your pre-game warm-up at the eight-station, approximately 250-yard (about 229-metre) driving range. Your shared, motorised golf cart awaits your arrival.
Nine-Hole Round of Golf, Activities Shelter
Next, enjoy an unforgettable, nine-hole golf experience. Come and test your skill, and try to avoid the large, jutting rock on the course's signature ninth hole. During your round, you can check out the newly-added Activities Shelter. Here, you can rest, chat with locals, order a burger and a beer at your own expense, and view the interpretive signage detailing the course’s conception. Golf clubs, balls, and a motorised cart are included in this unique golf outing. At the conclusion of your round of golf at Muskeg Meadows, return your golf cart and clubs, then re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
