Excursion Monserrat volcano & music experience tour at Little Bay

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

This half-day-plus Montserrat adventure covers it all. Buckle up for an exclusive exploration you’ll long remember.

Flightseeing & Volcano Observing
Begin your epic outing with a luxurious 20-minute aerial island survey by state-of-the-art helicopter, with expert narration provided via individual headset. After descending gently, switch to terrestrial transport for the drive to Montserrat Volcano Observatory. Watch a short introductory film and interact with staff as you learn about this crucial venue tasked with monitoring the Soufriere Hills volcano area 24/7 for signs of renewed activity.

Lunch at Sir George Martin’s place
A scenic hour’s drive brings you to Olveston House, family home of the acclaimed producer known as the “First Beatle.” Tour this legendary residence frequented by countless rockers who recorded at Martin’s history-making Air Studios on the property. Hear intriguing insider stories about the legends who spent time in this sonic haven – from Jimmy Buffet to Paul McCartney, Earth Wind & Fire, The Police, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Dire Straits.

Having absorbed all that rock creativity, you’ll be primed to savour some culinary artistry: a 3-course repast curated by a chef who’s worked with Gordon Ramsay and other Michelin Star notables. Your lunch menu features a fusion of flavors that perfectly complement the historic setting.

High views & a buried capital
Things soon get adventurous again as you head for an elevated lookout point offering the closest views of Soufriere Hills volcano, vast expanses of pyroclastic flows, and remnants of the ex-capital city of Plymouth. It’s impossible not to be in awe of Nature’s power as you gaze on rocks as huge as houses that were spewed from the volcano to land thousands of feet away.

You’ll also spend time directly in what’s left of Plymouth’s streets – barely recognizable under some 40 feet of ash – seizing a rare chance to inspect the past devastation firsthand and hear amazing resilient survival stories of those who were there at the time.

Nowhere else you may visit offers such a unique landscape – blending lush tropical beauty with musical history and dramatic volcanic aftermath. And you’ll have seen it all.
