Excursion Meeting of the waters tour at Manaus
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Leave from the Port of Manaus by local speed boat down the Rio Negro to the meeting of the waters of the Rio Negro with Rio Solimões, the birthplace of the mighty Amazon River. Watch the phenomenon of two rivers meeting, without their waters (light brown Rio Solimões and black Rio Negro) mixing. For miles and miles, they flow side by side. Sailing up the Rio Negro we will visit a floating house where we will see some Pirarucus (Arapaima gigas).
After this visit we will continue cross up the Rio Negro to Lake Janauary, an ecological Park, situated between the two rivers, ride through the small tributaries and flooded creeks, and get a real close touch with the Amazonian rain forest and see the water lilies.
A local buffet lunch is served on a floating restaurant at Janauary Lake. After lunch, board in motorized canoes for a ride inside the Lake Janauary through the igarapés (little creek) and igapós (flooded forest). After this activity, return to the speed boat to sail back to Manaus.
Note
Please note: A 75-minute boat cruise to/from Lake Janauary, a minimal amount of easy walking and few steps to negotiate to get on/off the local boat/canoe. Light clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
