Depart the cruise pier by comfortable coach for an approximately 30-minute drive to the West Coast Fossil Park, located near Langebaan along South Africa’s Atlantic coast. Upon arrival, join a guided tour through the park’s main exhibition areas and outdoor walkways. Learn how this region once supported a rich prehistoric ecosystem and view fossils of animals that lived here around 5.2 million years ago, during the early Pliocene period. Your guide brings to life the significance of this world-class paleontological site.

Independent Exploration Time and Refreshments

After the guided portion, enjoy free time to further explore the displays at your own pace, browse the souvenir shop, or revisit areas of particular interest within the park. Conclude your visit with cake, finger food, and two beverages at the on-site restaurant before reboarding the coach for the 30-minute return drive to the cruise pier.

Please note: The tour involves moderate amounts of walking of approximately 0.4 miles (0.6 km) on flat walkways with no steps at the Fossil Park. Guests must be able to board the coach independently to participate. The experience is mostly on even, paved walkways and is suitable for guests with limited mobility once on site. The Fossil Park is closed on Mondays. Refreshments include cakes or finger food and two beverages (soft drinks, beer, or wine).
