Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive through the beautiful countryside en route to Stirling Castle. From its spectacular setting, high on a volcanic rock above the River Forth, Stirling Castle has controlled one of the main routes between the Scottish Highlands and the lowlands for centuries, earning the title 'Key to the Kingdom'. Earlier fortifications have given way to today's palatial and beautifully furnished, 15th-century residence, the home of the Stuart kings and birthplace of James II.
Castle Tour, Elphinstone Tower, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Museum
Upon arrival, take a walking tour of the castle. Along the way, learn about the bloody battles that took place in the vicinity of Stirling Castle, along with the castle's regal occupants and events of its storied past. During your tour, visit the Elphinstone Tower and the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Museum. This educational museum of the regiment's history includes uniforms, weapons and soldiers' personal items.

Bannockburn Heritage Centre and Battle Site
After re-boarding your coach, continue on to the site of the Battle of Bannockburn, where King Robert the Bruce defeated Edward II of England's forces during the First War of Independence in 1314. Upon arrival, a stop is made at the nearby Bannockburn Heritage Centre. Here, view audio-visual presentations and informative history exhibitions exploring the medieval battle site. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.
