Excursion Antonina to morretes by historic steam railway tour at Paranagua
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Set out from the pier by motor coach for the hour-plus drive to Antonina, Paraná's historic first port, where graceful 18th- and 19th-century architecture tells tales of Brazil's maritime glory. Stroll the atmospheric waterfront and cobblestone streets with your expert guide, discovering perfectly preserved colonial mansions and ornate Portuguese churches that earned the town its National Heritage status.
The highlight of the day is a ride on Brazil's oldest operating steam locomotive. Built in the USA in 1884, the historic 'Locomotive 11' was the first engine to operate on the Paranaguá-Curitiba railway and now offers a nostalgic journey through time. The vintage train transports you to charming Morretes, nestled within the embrace of the UNESCO-protected Atlantic Rainforest. You’ll then enjoy a meal of traditional regional cuisine at a local restaurant, where generations-old recipes showcase the flavors that have defined this coastal region for centuries.
In Morretes, you'll have free time to explore the historic center of this colonial gem, where colorful Portuguese architecture and tree-lined squares offer perfect photo opportunities before your return transfer to Paranaguá.
