Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Venturing into the Amazon tributaries is an experience not to be missed, it will provide a close-up look of what the ecology of the Amazon is all about. Knowledgeable guides will provide information about trees, plants and birds you may encounter during this trip into nature.

River Cruise

Boarding your riverboat pier side, the cruise takes you across the Rio Negro toward a cluster of islands. At a convenient landing stage, you will switch to motorised canoes and cruise the narrow channels in the tropical forest, affording a closer look at this equatorial forest land.

Janauary Ecological Park

Enjoy a visit to one of the most visited Ecological parks in Brazil, known for its diverse variety of plants throughout its landscapes: dry forests, lowlands and flooded intertidal zones. Here, guests can enjoy a short canoe ride to Janauary Lake.

Meeting of the Waters

After returning to the landing, rejoin your riverboat and start cruising back to Manaus. En route, take in the 'Meeting of the Waters'. This natural phenomenon consists of the clear waters of the Rio Negro and the muddy yellow waters of the Solimões flowing side by side for several miles without merging. Later, the two rivers form the Amazon.

Note

Please note: Tour involves a minimal amount of walking.  It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or guests who utilise a wheelchair. Transportation will be by local riverboat and smaller, motorised canoes. Boarding the riverboats and canoes requires balance and is quite difficult. Caution is advised when getting in and out of the canoes. Restroom conditions onboard the riverboat may be basic.  Lightweight clothing, a raincoat, flat-soled shoes, sun protection and insect repellent are recommended. The tour also involves a short walk in the ecological park (optional). A small bar is available on board the riverboat to purchase drinks. Some free time will be made available at the floating barge/restaurant for souvenir shopping. Make sure you have USD in small denomination or Brazilean Real, since credit card will not be accepted.

During dry season, usually from October to December, the motorised canoes may not be able to operate due to lack of water in the lake, therefore the Janauary Ecological Park will be visited on foot, along a wooden walkway.

During wet season, usually from December to May, heavy rain may be experienced.
