Split, Dugopolje, Hills, Karst Fileds, Dugopolje, Mosor Mountain, Panoramic Sea & Island Views
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive north-east to the municipality of Dugopolje, which is surrounded by numerous hills and characterised by large, fertile, karst fields. Upon arrival, head towards Mosor, a tall, karst mountain that dominates the region. Mosor’s highest peak is approximately 4,366 feet (1,331 metres), and its massif separates Dugopolje from the Adriatic Sea, which is approximately 6.2 miles (about 10 kilometres) away. Like all the other mountains in the Dinaride range, Mosor stretches northwest-southeast, is parallel with the Adriatic coast, and, thanks to its height, offers spectacular panoramic views of the open seas and islands.
Hidden Dalmatia Visitor's Centre, Interactive, Multimedia & Sensory Experience, Virtual Reality
Upon arrival at Mosor, your exploration of this fascinating karst mountain begins with a visit to the Hidden Dalmatia Visitor's Centre, a multimedia and educational space utilising interactive modern technology to interpret the natural heritage of the Split-Dalmatia County, with an emphasis on Mosor Mountain. Along the way, enjoy an enthralling multimedia and sensory experience through virtual reality (VR), animated interpretation, and the expert guidance of educators. Following your tour and a refreshment, re-board your coach and proceed to nearby Vranjaca Cave, a Protected Geomorphological Natural Monument.
Vranjaca Cave, Guided Walking Tour, Stalactites, Stalagmites, Pillars, Arcades
Vranjaca Cave is amongst the most beautiful pearls of the karst landscape and comprised of two halls. The first was known as early as the 19th century and has no speleothems, whilst the other hall was discovered in 1903, and thrills visitors with the richness of speleothems of various forms and colours. The total length of cave channels is approximately 393 yards (about 360 metres). A specific feature of the cave is that its interior maintains a constant, year-round temperature of approximately 59°F (about 15°C). During your guided walking tour, marvel at the abundant stalactites and stalagmites, pillars, and arcades. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board the coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
