Depart the pier for a 90-minutes transfer to Loc Tho Pagoda, which serves as both a place of worship and a school for orphans and underprivileged children. The teachers donate their time to educate and support the 130 students who reward their efforts with their heartwarming smiles. After visit, receive your safety helmet for the bike tour.

 

Local Landmarks

During your bicycle tour, observe the local lifestyles of the Vietnamese people and explore local landmarks. Highlights include the Village Church, Binh Cang and village temple, Loc Tho Pagoda the nurturing and protection of disadvantaged and orphaned children, Ancient House for a refreshment stop.

Cai River

Then cycle along the Cai river to see the wooden bridge which is helping the islander in a daily life. Continue riding to visit a clay-cooked stove family workshop where many clay stoves have been produced.  The local people in the countryside still use clay stoves for cooking at home instead of gas stoves. Every year, 7 days before the lunar New Year comes, people have a little ceremony to see off the Kitchen God and change for a new stove.  The old stoves cannot be ruined.  They bring them to the Cai River and drop them on thousands of rocks at the Cai river estuary.  

Ponagar Cham Tower

Ponagar Cham Tower is the next stop and enjoy views of the historic, the best-preserved relic of the thousand-year-long Champa dynasty. The Champa Kingdom or Champa Dynasty was located along the coastal plains of southern and central Vietnam, between about AD 192 and 1832. The Chams controlled the coast and the sea-lanes between China and India. Descendants of the Champa still live along the coast, but are now part of Vietnam

Next is a short photo stop at the Ponagar and Tram Huong towers, after that you will proceed for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant.

Your tour concludes with a 90-minutes return transfer to the ship via coach.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of activity, biking for approximately 7.5 miles / 12 km, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is recommended for guests in good physical condition, and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes or sneakers and sun protection is recommended. Guests must be between 13 and 75 years old and between 62 and 74 inches (157 and 188 centimetres) to participate on this tour. The maximum weight to participate on this tour is 210 pounds (95 kilograms) per person. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.  Guest who would like to donate colouring books, crayons, pencils ect, can bring the items and give them directly to the children. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Although English is very popular language in Vietnam, local Tour Guides tend to have a strong accent therefore we urge flexibility and understanding. The driving distance between the pier and the sites visited is approximately 1.5 hours in each direction.
