Vanilla Plantation, Guided Tour, Vanilla Bean History, Production and Tasting

Depart the pier for the short drive to the Vanilla Plantation. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the plantation, an important source of income for the island. Depending upon the time of your visit, you can see vanilla beans being harvested, beans being dried or flowers being pollinated. Following your tour, proceed for a vanilla tasting, and view a storyboard explaining the history of vanilla and heilala vanilla.


Talihau, Cultural Demonstration, Tapa-Making, Woodcarving, Floor Show, Dancing, Refreshments

Next, re-board your coach and head to Talihau. Upon arrival, proceed for a cultural demonstration in which you can experience tapa-making, woodcarving, a floor show and dancing. Afterward, enjoy a refreshment of fresh fruit and fruit juice. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, at times over uneven, natural and sandy surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, biodegradable sunscreen, insect repellent, bottled water, and local currency for purchases from the ship. The buses are air-cooled. The buses are not equipped with P.A. systems nor microphones. Some of the roads are unpaved and rutted; the ride maybe bumpy. The restroom facilities may be rustic. The tour sequence may vary.
