Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Discover the history and seaside beauty of Grenada during this picturesque, half-day excursion to Fort Frederick, and a relaxing visit to a secluded beach.
Fort Frederick
Depart the pier for a scenic drive through the town of St. George's, the capital of Grenada, en route to Fort Frederick. Perched atop Richmond Hill, this 18th-century fortress offers panoramic views over St. George's Harbour, Carenage, and rolling mountain ridges covered in lush vegetation and quaint houses. Fort Frederick was built by two nations. The French started it in 1779, and the British completed it in 1791 during the French Revolution. The Fort is a large stone quadrangle, with bastions at each corner. Each face of the curtain wall is approximately 179 feet (about 55 metres) long, approximately 17.5 feet (about 5.3 metres) high and approximately three feet (about 0.91 metres) wide at the base.
Beach Visit
Next, your drive continues on to a secluded, white-sand beach located on the south of Grenada. Your two-hour visit includes beach chairs, restroom facilities with changing rooms, complimentary beverage and snack. You can swim, explore the beach, sunbathe or simply relax with a refreshing drink in the shade of a sea grape tree. Afterward, re-board your coach for the brief drive back to the pier.
