Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Tetouan a Berber name that literally means 'the eyes', and figuratively means the 'water springs'. The town features a fort, squares, mosques, fountains, taverns, and one of the King's palaces. Upon arrival at Tetouan,Walk to the Royal Palace for an exterior visit.

The Royal Palace is a 17th-century building which reflects the Hispano-Moresque architecture of that era. The palace is closed to public entry, but its ornate main gate, Bab Er-Rouah, offers some foresight as to what is beyond. Your tour continues with a guided stroll through the Tetouan Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This traditional walled souk features many typical architectural traits related to its history, along with a multitude of different artisans plying their trades.


Your walk will lead you to Bouhlal Palace where you will be enjoying a refreshment with Moroccan tastes of sweet and salty snacks before heading to Bab Akla School of Traditional Arts and Crafts.

Tetouan's famous School of Plastic Arts, the first of its kind in Morocco, has produced some of Morocco's best painters over the past half-century, and keeps these traditional art forms alive in the modern world. The city stands out for the beauty of her traditional arts, including embroidery, cuisine, zullayj (mosaics), and carved-and-painted wooden objects. The scholars of the school are all children that come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the skills learned here offers them a new opportunity for a chance of success for their future. Your entrance fees go directly to maintaining this wonderful initiative, and the Medina of Tetouan has inspired many of them.


If time permits, some free time is made available for independent shopping and further exploration.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1500 metres, at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair.
