Excursion Safi city discovery tour at Safi

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover Safi, one of Morocco's ancient cities. Although its founding date remains unclear, it was once inhabited by the Carthaginians, who referred to it as Asfi, followed by the Romans, Goths, and eventually Muslims. Established by the Almohades, the city evolved into a significant religious and cultural hub and continues to be the largest among five historic Atlantic ports. Safi's history is closely linked to the sea, which explains why the RA Expedition originated from this city. Start your journey with a visit to the Sidi Bouzid promenade, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, the port, and parts of the city. Drive along the main avenues to the Ceramic Museum, then delve into the heart of the medina. After that, stroll down "Rue du Souq," bustling with food and craft stalls, and make your way to Bab Ecchaaba. Take some time to explore and witness the craftsmanship of local potters before heading back to the port.

Note

Please note: There is a moderate amount of walking for approximately 1.5 km (0.93 miles) on uneven surfaces in the medina and pottery quarter and a few steps to get/on the bus and at the various sides visited, making this tour less suitable for individuals with walking difficulties. Lightweight comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended, as well as a sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen and sufficient water. Guests are informed tips to local guides and drivers are at guest’s discretion.
