Tarragona

Tarragona is one of the most beautiful and important cities of the Costa Dorada. Its port, the most significant in southern Catalonia, together with its remarkable Roman and Medieval remains, make it a place of great historical and cultural interest. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tarragona’s origins date back to 218 BC, when the Romans first set foot on the Iberian Peninsula. The Roman settlement of Tarraco became the capital of Hispania Citerior, one of the largest provinces of the Empire under Augustus (27 BC). After centuries of decline following the fall of Rome, the city flourished once again during the medieval era.

Scenic Drive, Coast, Beaches, Rambla Nova & Puente del Diablo

Your tour begins with a pleasant coastal drive, offering views of Tarragona’s unique beaches, distinct from others along the Costa Dorada thanks to their natural setting and privileged location. On the way, you will pass through the downtown area, where you can admire some of the city’s highlights, learn about the centuries old tradition of the Castellers, and see the famous monument on Rambla Nova. Before reaching the city center, enjoy a stop at the Mirador Puente del Diablo, an iconic viewpoint where you can pause for photographs and admire spectacular landscapes.

Balcony of the Mediterranean, Circus & Roman Amphitheatre

Continue your discovery with a stop at the famous Balcony of the Mediterranean, a favorite gathering place for locals offering panoramic views over the sea. From here, you will also have the chance to see the remains of the Roman Circus and the impressive Roman Amphitheatre, built in the 2nd century overlooking the coast. This arena once hosted gladiator battles, wild beast fights, and public executions, leaving a vivid legacy of Tarragona’s Roman past.

Free Time in the City Center

The last part of your visit is dedicated to exploring Tarragona’s charming city center at leisure. Stroll along its streets, admire the historic atmosphere, or take time to relax in one of the cafés or local shops before rejoining your coach. A final panoramic drive around downtown Tarragona will conclude your tour before returning to the pier.
