Rauma, Eurajoki, Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Eurajoki, and a visit to the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant. The Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant units rank among the top power plants in the world, and their operating history have been a success story of Finnish electricity production. Olkiluoto has produced electricity to the national grid already for the past 35 years, and its operating history is attributed to the nuclear power company, Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO). The company was founded in 1969, and the construction of its first nuclear power plant unit started at the beginning of 1974.


Visitor's Centre, Guided Tour, 'Electricity from Uranium' Exhibition

Upon arrival, drive by the premises and visit to the Olkiluoto's Visitor's Centre. During your guided tour, view the 'Electricity from Uranium' exhibition, built by the Heureka Science Centre. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to view the operating principle of a nuclear power plant, and the path of uranium fuel as it travels from bedrock-to-bedrock. In addition, learn about Teollisuuden Voima Oy and its operations, as well as how electricity is produced. Following your guided tour, coffee is served in the Visitor's Centre.


Rauma Coast and Landscapes, Helmiranta

At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach for the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier. En route, take in breath-taking panoramic landscapes of Rauma's coast and natural beauty, and stop for refreshments in Helmiranta.


Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 219 yards (about 200 metres), at times over uneven surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at Helmiranta; a ramp is available. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a weatherproof jacket from the ship. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate on this tour. At the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant, photography is only permitted at the Visitor's Centre. The Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant requires the names, I.D., D.O.B., place of birth, place of residence, and employer of each guest two weeks before the scheduled tour. After that, additional guests cannot be added to the tour. Guests must present a valid ID card to visit the Nuclear Power Plant. The cancellation deadline is two weeks before the call.
