Excursion Norfolk's underwater world tour at Norfolk
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
The pristine Southern Pacific Ocean waters that bathe Norfolk Island’s sheltered Emily Bay and Slaughter Bay lagoons brim with one of the planet’s most diverse marine ecosystems – a sprawling coral reef where brilliantly multi-hued fish spend their days exploring lush underwater landscapes.
Departing from a dock just minutes by coach from the cruise jetty you arrived at, you’ll spend the next hour aboard a roofed glass-bottomed boat purpose-designed for guest comfort and ideal viewing access to this environment. Large viewing areas in the hull make it easy to observe the fish, corals, and other unique marine life that thrives here. Your guides, direct descendants of the famed HMAS Bounty Mutineers, bring humor and passion to the fore as they help you identify which of some 70 coral species is below and which of the 100 fish species known to live here are swimming by. They take pride in entertaining and educating as they explain how the various inhabitants live together in perfect ecological harmony.
