Muroran, Noboribetsu Town, Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive through the forested, rolling countryside en route to Noboribetsu, one of most popular spa towns in Hokkaido and Japan. Prepare to step back in time and experience living history during a visit to Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura. During Japan’s Edo Period, the warrior class broke away from the Imperial Court, and city life and the merchant class played a vital role.

Traditional Structures, Games & Activities, Street & Theatre Performances, Ninjas, Courtesans

Upon arrival, free time is made available to explore recreations of traditional Japanese structures, including Ninja houses and a theatre. Enjoy traditional games and activities, and watch enchanting street and theatre performances. Walk amongst Ninjas, the mysterious figures whose basic function was to carry out covert operations for their feudal lords. Meet the beautiful Oiran Courtesans, who excelled at various arts that included poetry, calligraphy, tea ceremonies, and music. They were so highly-esteemed, that only the Samurai and rich could afford their charms.

Noboribetsu Hell Valley, Crater, Fumaroles, Mineral Springs, Spectacular Views

Following your visit, re-board your coach and head to the nearby Noboribetsu Hell Valley, which lies along the fabled ‘Rim of Fire’ and is one of several areas of intense volcanic activity. Take in spectacular panoramic vistas of your surrounds during a guided walking tour to the approximately 1,476-foot-high (about 450-metre-high) crater, and its surrounding fumaroles and mineral springs. The hot springs found here supply the nearby Noboribetsu Resort. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 40-minute drive back to the pier.

Therefore, we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique, less-touristic destinations. The cost of providing a tour programme in this area is proportionately more expensive than in neighbouring regions, as vehicles and guides are brought in from the whole region. This may be reflected in the prices of the tours, and we thank you for your understanding. Operation of this tour is subject to weather conditions. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
