Start with a short drive from Trois Ilets to the Habitation Josephine, where you’ll learn about her early life in the eighteenth century before she became the Empress of France. A guided tour offers insights into her history and the significance of this iconic place in her life story.

Inland Scenic Drive & Le François

After passing through the village of Trois Ilets, continue along scenic inland roads to Le François on the east side of the island. Here, visit a beautifully maintained plantation house that hosted a historic meeting in 1991 between French President Mitterrand and U.S. President Bush. The house is decorated with authentic furniture from past eras.

Rum Distillery

Explore the plantation’s park and visit the non-operational rum distillery. Enjoy a brief “zip” tour of the rum process and learn about the island’s sugar and rum heritage.

Tour Reversal & Return

The itinerary may be reversed depending on logistical arrangements, but the experience remains enriching and scenic throughout.
