In addition to housing one of Japan’s most complete botanical collections, the gardens offer dramatic overviews of the city, bay, and rice fields below. Take some free time to admire unspoiled panoramas along the Pacific shore before rejoining your guide for an easy-paced walk and climb to a bronze monument and small museum commemorating Sakamoto Ryoma, the low-caste samurai swordsman who helped topple the Tokugawa shogunate in the mid-19th century.
