Excursion Kotor - a medieval jewel tour at Kotor

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Explore the Medieval treasures and architecture of Kotor during a scenic walking tour through the historic Old Town.

Depart the pier for a guided walk through the narrow streets of Kotor's Old Town, which is lined with Medieval houses, palaces, and churches. Along the way, a visit is made to the magnificent Cathedral of St. Triphun.

Cathedral of St. Triphun

One of the oldest and most beautiful examples of Roman architecture, the cathedral was constructed in 1166 on the remains of a 9th-century temple. In addition to the remnants of 13th-century frescoes, the cathedral houses a treasury with local and Venetian artwork dating from the 14th to 20th centuries.

Grgurina Palace & Fortified Walls

Next, proceed to the 17th-century Grgurina Palace. Today, the palace houses the Maritime Museum, a testament to the town's lengthy maritime history. After a guided visit, your walk continues through the walled Old Town. In some places, the walls reach a height of 60 feet (18 metres).

Following your walking tour, you may opt to return directly to the pier or remain in the Old Town for shopping or further exploration and return to the pier at your leisure.
