Upon landing, you will be greeted by an experienced musher and their team of sled dogs. This exclusive encounter offers a rare glimpse into the life of a musher, complete with tales from the trail and introductions to the dogs that have made the Iditarod famous. Learn about the intricate training and bonding process between the musher and their dogs, and gain hands-on experience with the dog sledding equipment and gear. The musher will share personal race stories, making this an educational and thrilling experience.

The adventure continues as you meet the future Iditarod champions—adorable puppies! This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows you to cuddle with the puppies and take memorable photos against the dazzling backdrop of the glacier. Interact with the dogs and learn how to prepare a sled dog team for a race, from harnessing the eager pups to understanding their unique personalities and training techniques. After this heartwarming experience, you'll board the helicopter for a scenic return flight to Skagway, leaving you with cherished memories of your Alaskan adventure.

Please note: This tour does not include a dog sledding ride.This tour requires a minimal amount of walking and a moderate amount of standing; however, guests must be able to climb in and out of the helicopter via steps (18 inch) with minimal assistance.The walk on the glacier involves uneven, potentially slippery, snowy terrain. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilize a wheelchair. Operation of this tour is weather dependent and it may be cancelled on short notice. The total flight time is approximately 30 minutes, with approximately 1 hour spent on the glacier at the dog camp (no sledding is in this tour). These times will vary depending on weather and glacial conditions. Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as individual safety and comfort, passengers dressed in outdoor gear and weighing 250 pounds (113 kilograms/18 stone) or more will be charged an additional $150 to reserve adequate space on board the helicopter. Seating is based on weight distribution and is assigned at the pilot's discretion.  For security purposes bags, IPads/tablets, drones or GoPro selfie sticks are not allowed on the flight. A secure place is provided at TEMSCO headquarters to store personal items. Guests should dress in layers, including a hat and gloves, for the varying weather conditions; umbrellas are not permitted. Glacier overboots are provided. Guests must sign a waiver to participate. Space is extremely limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment. Dog camps close at the end of August therefore this tour is not available in September.  There is a possibility the camp will close earlier and guests will be notified if this affects any more departures.  Due to the limited capacity and high demand for this tour, it is non-refundable unless cancelled by 12:00 p.m. on the day after embarkation.
