Hambantota, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.25-hour drive to the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort. Situated on a rocky outcrop on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, the resort is located near the old fort town of Tangalle. A golden-hued beach, fringed by coconut palms, overlooks the roaring Indian Ocean. Upon arrival at the hotel, meet the resort's chef and set out in search of fresh ingredients for the day's cooking extravaganza.
Fish Market, Paddy Cultivation, Vegetable Market
First, visit a local fish market to explore the local seafood available for sale. From here, re-board your coach and drive to a paddy cultivation. A brief stop is made here to walk through and observe the paddy cultivation before continuing your drive to a local vegetable market. After selecting fresh and colorful produce for your cooking workshop, re-board your coach and return to the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort.
Cooking Workshop, Curry Dishes, Sri Lankan Pancakes, Lunch
Back at the hotel, enjoy an interactive cooking workshop using the ingredients purchased during your earlier visits to the markets. During the cooking workshop, your chef instructs you in the preparation local curry dishes. Following the cooking workshop, you are served a lunch consisting of the dishes you have helped to prepare. After lunch, help whip up Sri Lankan pancakes, a favourite dessert made with sweet honey and coconut filling. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1.25-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 504 yards (about 461 metres), at times over uneven, wet, slushy, muddy, gravel, and cobblestone surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the mini coach, five steps at the local fish market, five steps at the paddy cultivation, five steps at the vegetable market, and 10 steps at the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle. This tour is not suitable for guests with food allergies, guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, bottled water, and US Dollars, Euros, local currency, or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least 15 years old to participate on this tour. Guests must be at least 21 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Serving alcohol is prohibited in Sri Lanka on full moon days and certain religious holidays; alcohol will not be served on excursions on those days. This tour serves local cuisine only. The driving time between the pier and sites visited is approximately 1.25 hours in each direction. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
