Once an old spice center for Eastern and Western traders, Malacca boasts a colorful history forged by Malay Sultans, European powers and the formation of multi-cultural communities. Each of these impressive historical eras left it's own indelible heritage and influence. You will have the opportunity to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Melaka, one of the two remarkable examples of a colonial town on the Straits of Malacca. Malacca's glorious past is seen through the streets and buildings that are steeped in history illustrating its prosperous trading heritage. Begin your tour with a photo stop at Porta de Santiago, the only remains of the Dutch fortifications. Next, you will walk up to St Paul's Hill and you will see the ruins of St Paul's Church where missionary St Francis Xavier was briefly interred in 1553.


After that, proceed to Dutch Square, you will see The Stadthuys is believed to be the oldest-surviving Dutch building in the East. Part of Malacca town square's prominent Dutch colonial architecture it is a massive bright terracotta-red riverfront building that was once the official residence of Dutch Governors and officers, an excellent example of Dutch period architecture. Christ Church, standing tall since 1753, is another contribution of the Dutch who defeated the Portuguese in 1641. As you continue on Jonker Street, you will see many antique and curio shops. Continue on to Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia, and Kampung Kling Mosque before returning to the pier by Rickshaw or vice versa.
