Edinburgh Highlights

Depart the pier for the approximate 30-minute drive to Edinburgh's city centre.  Upon arrival, begin your sightseeing drive through the city and stop for photos along the way.

See the Georgian Architecture of the New Town, parts of the medieval Royal Mile, and Princes Street with its civic gardens in the heart of the city.

The Royal Mile

The Royal Mile links the imposing Edinburgh Castle, perched on an extinct volcano at the top of the Mile, with the Palace of Holyroodhouse at the bottom.

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh’s iconic Castle is arguably the best known & certainly the most visited of Scotland’s historic buildings.  A majestic landmark which dominates the capital city’s skyline just as it has dominated Scotland’s long and colourful history, the castle is central to Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Palace of Holyroodhouse was the home of Mary, Queen of Scots when she returned to Scotland from France in 1561 and was occupied by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745, a few months before the fateful Battle of Culloden.  The scene of many a great historical drama throughout its history, the Palace is now the King’s official residence in Edinburgh.

Time at Leisure

At a suitable juncture (depending on conditions/traffic on the day) you will have up to one hour’s free time to explore, enjoy refreshments or do a little shopping.  Throughout your tour, your guide will tell you about life in Edinburgh from days gone by to modern times.

Your tour concludes back at the pier.
