Settle in for a 2.5-hour scenic drive, including a rest stop to stretch your legs and grab a snack. As landscapes shift from urban skylines to rolling hills and dense forests, your guide will share fascinating insights into Japan’s history, culture, and the unique geology that shaped Hakone’s volcanic terrain.

Soaring Above the Clouds: Ropeway to Owakudani Valley

Upon arriving in Hakone, board the Hakone Ropeway for a 30-minute ride high above the mountains. Glide through the sky, enjoying panoramic views of Mount Fuji (weather permitting) and the dramatic volcanic landscape below — a truly unforgettable sight.

Owakudani Valley, Free Exploration on Foot

After disembarking from the ropeway, enjoy some free time to explore Owakudani Valley on foot, Witness steam vents, bubbling hot springs, and the surreal volcanic landscape created nearly 3,000 years ago. Don’t forget to try the famous “black eggs” cooked in the sulfuric waters — local legend says eating one adds seven years to your life!

Savor Local Flavors

Next, a short 15-minute transfer brings you to a local restaurant, where you’ll unwind and sample regional Japanese dishes while soaking in serene mountain views — the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge before the afternoon’s exploration.

Hakone Shrine: A Sacred Lakeside Retreat

After lunch, a short transfer takes you to Hakone Shrine, where you’ll spend approx 50 minutes exploring this lakeside sanctuary. Stroll along lantern-lit forest paths, pass through the iconic red torii gate standing in the waters of Lake Ashi, and visit the historic shrine, which has been a spiritual haven since 757 AD.

Scenic Return: Reflect and Unwind

As your day in Hakone comes to a close, relax during the 2.5-hour drive back to Tokyo cruise terminal, with a rest stop along the way. Use this time to reflect on the day’s experiences, scroll through your photos, or simply gaze out the window as the landscapes roll by.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate to extensive amount of walking for approximately 1.55 miles (2.5 kilometers), with 30 steps in total to negotiate at the visited sites and a few to get on/off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and for those guests who utilize a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended.
