Excursion Cycling the atlantic shoreline tour at Salvador
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
One of the best active ways to see the Salvador de Bahia shoreline is by bicycle. Explore the city and see its highlights and panoramic views on this tour that also includes a tasting of traditional food. Depart from the pier on a short car ride to reach the starting point at the Porto da Barra beach, one of the greatest postcard vistas in the city. After a briefing on the itinerary, hop on your bike and get underway!
On your first leg of the itinerary, go towards Barra lighthouse, where the Bay finally joins the Ocean. Take some time for photos and continue the circuit hugging the Atlantic coastline. Your next stop is Cristo Hill, where a beautiful view of the lighthouse awaits. Continue towards the popular Rio Vermelho neighborhood, a traditional fishing community and also the most popular bohemian neighborhood.
Stop by the Yemanja house, a little house dedicated to the African deity of the sea in the Candomblé mythology. Your guide can share some of the curiosities and interesting facts about this neighborhood and African heritage.
Continue passing by Amaralina beach, Alah Garden and stop to refresh with a coconut water, then resume your journey past Boca do Rio beach, Pituaçu beach, Jaguaribe beach, and Piatã Beach, and finally Itapuã Beach, so popular in Brazil for famous Brazilian musicians Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes.
One of your last stops is to visit the memorial house where Vinicius de Moraes used to live for a period in his life. Enjoy a well-earned tasting of traditional Bahia food before returning by coach to the pier.
