Puerto del Rosario, Guise & Ayose Viewpoint and Statues

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Betancuria, one of the most important Colonial landmarks in the history of the Canary Islands. En route, pass by the Guise and Ayose Viewpoint, a monument featuring splendid panoramic views and two impressive bronze statues representing the kings of ancient Fuerteventura, Ayose and Guise.

Founded in 1404 by the Norman Knight Jean de Bethencourt, Betancuria was the former capital of the island. Today, it has immense historical value as the home of the first Monastery, Cathedral, and Episcopal seat of the entire archipelago. Upon arrival, take a guided stroll along the picturesque, narrow streets filled with flowers and a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere. Following your tour, some free time is made available for independent shopping and exploration. Next, re-board your coach and head to one of the most iconic viewpoints of the Canary Islands, the Las Peñitas Viewpoint. From this location, take in breathtaking views of your surrounds whilst your guide explains the geology of Fuerteventura.

Goats, Cheese Museum, Cheese Tastings with Wine, Onsite Shoppe

It's estimated that today, the number of goats in Fuerteventura is considerably higher than the population itself, and the Majorera goats are renowned for their excellent milk. During a stop at the Museo del Queso (Cheese Museum), take a guided walking tour. Along the way, learn about the origin of Majorero cheese, and see the Exhibition Halls and Windmill. Afterward, proceed for a tasting of four different types of cheeses served with two glasses of wine. An onsite shoppe also offers local artisanal products for sale. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1.6 miles (about 2.6 kilometres), at times over uneven, natural, and cobblestone surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the adapted coach, five steps to access one of the Exhibition Halls, and ten steps to access the Windmill at the Cheese Museum; lifts are available in most areas. Walking at Betancuria is at the discretion of each guest. An adapted coach is utilised on this tour, which makes it is suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, a sweater or light jacket, bottled water, and Euros or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least nine years old to participate on this tour; minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old to participate on this tour. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. This tour does not operate on Sundays and Mondays. Extra time is allotted for the bus to turn in the event a photo stop is not possible at the Las Peñitas Viewpoint. The tour sequence may vary.
