Depart Falmouth pier on foot for a guided walk along the headland enjoying the stunning coastal views before arriving at the beautiful castle beach. The most easterly of Falmouth’s beaches and the 3rd deepest natural harbour in the world.
Renowned for its calm waters, at low tide the shoreline reveals its many bio-diverse rock pools. Over 300 various marine species have been recorded in Falmouth including some rare examples such as curled octopus, Atlantic bobtail squid and Giant Gobies!
Here, meet your expert wildlife guide to learn about the diverse wildlife and ecosystem found in these rock pools that reach around the bay into the mouth of the Fal estuary. Discover how to find the creatures hiding in the rock pools and be part of the world’s research and wildlife recording programme for the Southwest of England, as you log your findings on the recording app. This data will be passed to the international wildlife sharing platform.
Review your findings with your guide as you enjoy refreshments at the beach café before returning on foot, back to the pier.

Total walking distance is approximately 1 mile, with some steep sections near the port. Suitable footwear is required for walking on rocks, and guests may get wet, so towels are recommended.
