Batu Caves

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to the limestone outcrops of the Batu Caves. Incorporated with interior limestone formations said to be around 400 million years old, the temple is considered an important religious landmark by Hindus. Cathedral Cave, the largest and most popular cavern in Batu Caves and houses several Hindu shrines beneath its 100-metre-high arched ceiling. The truly amazing feat is the 272 steps that could only be described as a feast for the eyes after the somber stairs were transformed into an Instagram-worthy background with a myriad of colors and the trek requires a stunning amount of endurance. Monkeys frolic around the caves.

Light Rail Train, Petronas Twin Towers

After the visit, you will have the opportunity to take the Light Rail Train from Batu Caves for approximately 45 minutes journey to the magnificent Petronas Twin Tower for photo stop. Petronas Twin Towers were once the tallest buildings in the world. Now the world's tallest twin structures, the 88-storey buildings were designed with both towers joined at the 41st and 42nd floors (175m above street level) by a 58 meter-long, double-decker Sky Bridge. You will continue to proceed to a restaurant for your lunch.


Independence Square, Central Market

After the lunch, you will head to the Independence Square also known as Dataran Merdeka, it is set in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Directly in front is the Royal Selangor Club and to the north is St. Mary's Church, one of Malaysia's oldest Anglican churches. This is the historical place where the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag was raised for the very first time at the struck of midnight of 31st August 1957.

You will continue to walk to the Central Market. Built in 1928, it used to be a simple wet market but in the early 1980s was revamped into a handicraft's outlet. Central Market has been classified as a Heritage Site by the National Heritage Department. Similar to London's Covent Garden or San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf,


Following your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 90-minute drive back to the pier.

Note

Please note: This tour requires an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1.2 miles (about two kilometres), with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach, 272 steps up and again down at the Batu Cave and approximately 28 steps at the other sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests who are claustrophobic, guests with limited mobility and those who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Shorts, short pants or short skirts are not permitted in the Batu Caves. The drive from Port Klang to batu Caves is approximately one hour adn 30 minutes in each direction. Local traffic conditions can cause traffic jams and therefore delays in the driving time.
