Excursion A sicilian cooking experience tour at Giardini-Naxos
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Begin your Sicilian adventure with a 15-minute tender disembarkation followed by a 45-minute scenic drive from the port of Naxos to the charming hillside town of Linguaglossa, nestled on the northern slopes of Mount Etna.
Founded in 1566 atop an ancient lava flow, Linguaglossa welcomes you with its quaint streets, historic architecture, and captivating views. Upon arrival, take a 30-minute stroll through the heart of the town, visiting the Mother Church, built in 1613, and the Church of St. Egidio, dedicated to the town’s patron saint. During the walk, stop at a local patisserie to sample some of the region's finest pistacchio gelato.
From therer, a 15-minute drive brings you to Casa Arrigo, a beautiful historic estate surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and fruit orchards. Originally established in 1865 as a wine millstone and later transformed into a charming country house, the estate provides a stunning backdrop for your hands-on cooking experience.
In the open-air kitchen, join local chef as guide you through the preparation of two iconic Sicilian street food dishes: arancino, a savory rice ball, and cannolo, a sweet ricotta-filled pastry. After the cooking demonstration, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor alongside other regional specialties and local drinks during a leisurely lunch.
Following this unforgettable culinary immersion, reboard your coach for a 45-minute return drive to the port of Naxos.
