Detailed Itinerary:

This full-day excursion provides a good introduction to some of Egypt's most outstanding attractions: The Pyramid of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. During the journey to Cairo via the desert road, your guide will provide interesting facts about the sites you will be visiting.

Depart the pier via coach for the 2.5 to 3-hour drive to Cairo.

The Great Pyramids

The three main pyramids of Giza were built as tombs by Pharaohs Cheops, Chephren, and Mykiernus to preserve their mummified bodies for eternity. These extraordinary structures, the last remaining wonder of the ancient world, have inspired awe and mystery for centuries. Guests wishing to enter one of the pyramids may purchase a ticket on-site (not included in the tour price).

The Western Plateau

A short drive leads to the Western Plateau, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the pyramids and the vast surrounding desert. The sight of camels crossing the sands creates a quintessentially Egyptian photo opportunity.

The Sphinx

Conclude your visit with the enigmatic Sphinx, carved from solid rock around 2650 B.C. With the head of a man and the body of a lion, this ancient guardian faces east toward the rising sun, a timeless symbol of strength and wisdom.

Following your visit, enjoy a delicious à la carte lunch at the elegant Marriott Mena House Hotel.

Grand Egyptian Museum

After lunch, step into the heart of ancient civilization at the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single culture. Nestled on the Giza Plateau, just minutes from the iconic Pyramids of Giza, this architectural masterpiece offers a breathtaking journey through over 5,000 years of Egyptian history. Marvel at the complete Tutankhamun Collection, displayed together for the first time, and explore thousands of restored artifacts from temples, tombs, and royal palaces, many unveiled to the public for the very first time. The museum’s design, a stunning fusion of modern innovation and ancient inspiration, features panoramic glass walls framing the Great Pyramids, grand atriums bathed in natural light, and immersive galleries that bring Egypt’s pharaonic heritage to life.

At the end of this remarkable day, reboard your coach for the return drive to Alexandria and your awaiting ship.
