Schotia is a private game reserve near Port Elizabeth offering a Big 5 safari. Schotia Safaris is the oldest private game reserve in the Eastern Cape of  South Africa,  bordering the eastern side of Addo Elephant National Park. Upon arrival at the reserve, board your game drive vehicles and venture into the reserve to search for its rich wildlife. Halfway through your game drive stop for a tea & toilet break and continue your exciting game drive afterwards.

Open Fire Dinner & Night Game Drive

After you spend so much time out in the bush on game drive you will enjoy a delicious dinner which is prepared over an open fire. A short, spotlit night game drive providing the possibility of more nocturnal animals completes your experience as we return to our reception area.

Upon conclusion of your unqiue safari, re-board your coach for an approximately one-hour and 30-minute transfer back to the ship.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of activity and a moderate amount of walking in the bush for approximately 327 yards (about 300 metres), at times over uneven, gravel, slippery, and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the canoes, and assisting in rowing. This tour is recommended for active guests in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with neck and/or back problems, guests with heart and/or respiratory conditions, guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, cotton safari wear (long-and-short-sleeved shirts and pants) with flat, sturdy, and closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, a light, weatherproof jacket, bottled water, and local currency or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least 6 years old to participate on this tour; minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Guests must carry their passports and ship’s ID at all times. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Guests are not permitted to speak loudly or stand up, as this disturbs the animals. Smoking is not permitted during the safari. No food may be taken on the safari. Guests are advised not to wear jewellery on this excursion. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, wildlife and bird sightings are not guaranteed. The tour sequence, timings, and itinerary are subject to change without prior notice. The driving time between the pier and sites visited is approximately 30-minutes in each direction. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
